Press Release Summary: Supraterranean is an open-access interactive web community
for writers, filmmakers, and artists. The site provides the means to self-publish
fiction, nonfiction, essays, poetry, short films, photography, art, and creative
multimedia.

Press Release Body: The Internet has opened the power of publishing to all. Or at
least, that's the hope. The web brought about an unexpected amount of interaction,
cooperation, and sharing that has bolstered creativity on many levels. But the
publishing industry has remained particularly static, with traditional stop gates
still in place. Supraterranean (http://www.supraterranean.com) wants to change that,
so that the Internet continues to foster personal expression and cultural progress.

Supraterranean is an open-access interactive web community for writers, filmmakers,
and artists. Think of it as a literary magazine without the editors and publishers.
The site provides the means to self-publish fiction, nonfiction, essays, poetry,
short films, photography, art, and creative multimedia. Anyone can submit and there
is no selection process. The audience will respond with ratings and comments, and
the most popular items will be featured on the homepage.

Nick Meador created the site in summer 2008, as an independent study project to
finish the Masters of Journalism program at Michigan State University. The goal is
to apply the spirit of journalism in an artistic setting, taking advantage of the
wide berth of material and interconnectivity provided by the Internet. This is an
experimental project, and its success will require the participation of both authors
and the community. The site also features the Supraterranean.com Admin Blog, on
which site creator Nick Meador discusses literature, film, and other relevant
topics.

Supraterranean will lift us above the traditional plane of publishing into a totally
new realm of creativity. And this is only the beginning! The site will change and
grow as more creators submit content, and as the audience provides comments and
suggestions.
